Create an Avid account or sign in

  • Go to the official websiteAvid.

  • Create an account if you don't have one yet.

  • Log in to your account to access your software and licenses.

Buy or access Pro Tools

  • If you haven't purchased Pro Tools yet, you can do so from theAvid online shopOr opt for oneFree trial version.

  • Register and activate your code fromRegister Software with Code.

  • Once purchased or registered for the trial version is made, the download of Pro Tools will be available in your account, underMy productsorMy Account.

Download Pro Tools

  • Download the installation file corresponding to your operating system (WindowsorMacOS).

  • You will also find themPilots neededfor your Avid compatible audio hardware.

Install iLok License Manager (required for Pro Tools)

Pro Tools requires softwareiLok License Managerto activate the license.

  • Download and installiLok License ManagerFrom the siteiLok.com.

  • Sign in to your iLok account or create one.

  • In your Avid account, link your Avid and iLok accounts through the tabLinked iLok Account.

  • Once logged in, add the Pro Tools license to your iLok account.

  • If you are using a physical iLok stick, insert it into a USB port and associate the license.

Install Pro Tools

💻 Windows

  1. Double-click on the file.exedownloaded.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions and accept the license terms.

  3. Choose the installation directory (the default directory is recommended).

  4. Complete the installation by following the displayed steps.

🍏 macOS

  1. Double-click on the fileby .dmgdownloaded.

  2. Move the iconPro ToolsIn the fileApplications.

  3. Follow the configuration steps displayed on the screen.

Activate Pro Tools

  • Open Pro Tools for the first time.

  • The software will ask you to activate the license.

  • Connect to yoursAccount iLokFollow the on-screen instructions.

  • Activation can be done via anPhysical iLok keyorSoftware activation.

Configure the audio

  • Open Pro Tools and navigate to the menuSetup → Playback Engine.

  • Select yourAudio interfaceOr your reading device.

  • Verify that your audio and MIDI hardware are properly recognized.

Updates and support

  • Regularly check for updates via yourAccount AvidOr the applicationAvid linkInstalled with Pro Tools.

  • Make sure your hardware and drivers are up to date to ensure system stability.
